DAY 1: DEPART FROM DELHI TO COCHIN BY FLIGHT & DRIVE TO ALLEPPEY BY ROAD (60 KM)
Early morning transfer to the Delhi airport for your flight to Cochin. Upon arrival, departure by road to Alleppey (60kms, 1½ hours approx.), Famous for the pristine backwaters, a chain of brackish lagoons and lakes located parallel to the Malabar coast. Think of a maze of backwaters with bright water, the bright green of the mangrove forests, the coconut palms that line the retaining walls, the blue sky, the flocks of migratory birds grazing the water and you begin to understand that Alleppey, a group of small islands on the eastern shores of Lake Vembanad in God’s Own Country, is a true dreamland. At mid-morning he embarks on his traditional Houseboat (Kettuvallam). Each Houseboat (houseboat) is built with wood, strong coconut fiber ropes, and other natural materials. The air-conditioned rooms tastefully decorated with private bathrooms have large sliding glass windows for uninterrupted views.
DAY 2: ALLEPPEY TO COCHIN BY ROAD
Disembarked from houseboat and departure by road to Cochin (60kms, 1½ hours approx.), In the afternoon enjoy a demonstration of “Kalaripayattu”, local and fun martial arts of “Kathakali” colorful dance show.
DAY 3: COCHIN CITY TOUR
In the morning visit of the Jewish Synagogue (closed Friday, Saturday, and Jewish holidays), built-in 1568, but destroyed by cannon fire during a Portuguese raid and rebuilt 2 years later. Walk through the Jewish City road and continue your tour visiting the Dutch Palace (closed Friday and national holidays). “Later, visit the historic Church of St. Francis, recognized as one of the earliest European churches established in India. Seeing the Chinese fishing nets in operation, a legacy of the first visitors to this coast, it is said that they have been carried by merchants since the court of Kublai Khan between 1350 and 145 AD.
DAY 4: COCHIN DEPARTURE
At a convenient time transfer to the international airport for your return flight (must be presented at the airport 3 hours before the flight departure time)
